This week in 2003, Sweet dreams by L.A. ex by Rachel Stevens reached its highest position of number 2 in the UK singles chart for the second time, having entered the top 40 at that position two weeks previously. After its second week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks. It then spent the last three weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Sweet dreams my L.A. Ex was released on the Polydor record label and was the first of five top 10 hits for Rachel Stevens in the UK. It was the first track taken from the gold-selling album Funky dory, which peaked at number 9 in the UK albums chart. The single was certified silver.
