Ten years ago this week, Under the thumb by Amy Studt entered the UK singles chart at number 10. This was the highest position the song achieved as it dropped into the lower top 40 a week later for the final three weeks of its chart life.

Under the thumb was released on the Polydor record label and was the second of two UK top 10 hits for Amy Studt. It was taken from the gold-selling album False smiles, which peaked at number 18 in the UK albums chart.
