Twenty years ago this week, Wild wood by Paul Weller entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 14. After one week at its peak position, the song slipped to number 19 for a final week in the top 40.

Wild wood was released on the Go! Discs record label and was the fourth UK top 40 hit for Paul Weller as a solo artist. It was taken from a platinum-selling album of the same name that peaked at number 2 in the UK albums chart. The single was re-issued in 1999 when it reached number 22.
