This week in 1993, Dreamlover by Mariah Carey reached its highest position of number 9 in the UK singles chart in its third week in the top 40 and second in the top 10. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 10 for two weeks. It then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final three weeks of its chart life.

Dreamlover was released on the Columbia record label and was the third top 10 hit for Mariah Carey in the UK. It was the first track taken from the quintuple-platinum-selling album Music box, which spent six weeks at the top of the UK albums chart. Both the single and the album topped the US charts.
