Tears For Fears occupied the UK top 10 for three weeks in 1983 with this track.

This week in 1983, Pale shelter by Tears For Fears entered the UK top 10 at its highest position of number 5, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 22. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 another two weeks. A further two weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

Pale shelter was released on the Mercury record label and was the third of seven UK top 10 hits for Tears For Fears. It was taken from the platinum-selling album The hurting, which spent one week at the top of the UK album chart. The song had originally been released as a single in 1982, as Pale shelter (you don’t give me love), but it had not entered the chart.
