This week in 2003, Superstar by Jamelia reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 8. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks. A further seven weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

Superstar was released on the Parlophone record label and was the second of seven UK top 10 hits for Jamelia. It was taken from the platinum-selling album Thank you, which peaked at number 4 in the UK albums chart. The single was certified silver. The original version of the song had been recorded earlier in 2003 by Christine Milton but the single was only released in Denmark.
