Are you ready for love by Elton John entered the UK singles chart at number 1 ten years ago this week, replacing Breathe by Blu Cantrell featuring Sean Paul. After just one week at the top of the chart, it was succeeded by Where is the love? by the Black Eyed Peas.
The song then spent another two weeks in the top 10, both of them in the top 5. A further six weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Are you ready for love was released on the Southern Fried record label and was the sixth of seven UK number 1 hits for Elton John. The single was a remix of a song that was first recorded in 1977. The original was included on a 1979 EP called The Thom Bell sessions.
