See my baby jive by Wizzard replaced Tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree by Dawn featuring Tony Orlando at the top of the UK singles chart this week in 1973. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 27 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later.
After four weeks at number 1, the song made way for Can the can by Suzi Quatro. It then spent two more weeks in the top 10 before dropping into the lower top 40 for another three weeks. After a two week absence from the chart, the record returned for one final week at number 39.
See my baby jive was released on the Harvest record label and was the first of two UK number 1 hits for Wizzard. It was taken from the album Wizzard brew, which reached number 29 in the UK album chart.
