This week in 1973, Brother Louie by Hot Chocolate reached its highest position of number 7 in the UK singles chart in its fifth week in the top 40 and second in top 10. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks. A further two weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Brother Louie was released on the RAK record label and was the third top 10 hit for Hot Chocolate in the UK. The song returned to the top 40 in 1993 when the Quireboys took a cover version to number 32.
