You’re beautiful by James Blunt replaced Ghetto gospel by 2Pac featuring Elton John ten years ago this week. It had entered the top 40 six weeks previously at number 12 and broke into the top 10 a week later.
The song spent five weeks at number 1 and then made way for I’ll be OK by McFly. After falling from the top spot, the record stayed in the top 10 for another three weeks, two of them in the top 5, and then dropped into the lower top 40 for another six weeks. For the rest of 2005 and the beginning of 2006, the single remained in the top 75 and spent another eight weeks in the top 40.
You’re beautiful was released on the Atlantic record label and was the only UK number 1 hit for James Blunt. It was taken from the album Back to bedlam, which spent ten weeks at the top of the UK albums chart and was certified platinum eleven times.
