Like toy soldiers by Eminem replaced It’s now or never by Elvis Presley at the top of the UK singles chart this week in 2005 in its first week of release. It stayed at number 1 for just one week and then made way for Sometimes you can’t make it on your own by U2. After falling from the top spot, the song spent another two weeks in the top 10 and then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final four weeks of its chart life.
Like toy soldiers was released on the Aftermath record label and was the sixth number 1 hit for Eminem in the UK. It was taken from the quadruple-platinum-selling album Encore, which spent two weeks at the top of the UK albums chart and was also a US number 1. The song used a sample from Toy soldiers by Martika, which peaked at number 5 in the UK chart in 1989.
