This week in 1994, Searching by China Black was at its highest position of number 4 in the UK singles chart for the first of two weeks. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 17 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After falling from its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another three weeks, two of them in the top 5. A further four weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Searching was released on the Wild Card record label and was the only UK top 10 hit for China Black. It was included on the album Born, which reached number 27 in the UK album chart in 1995.
