Thirty years ago this week, Love wars by Womack and Womack reached its highest position of number 14 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 35. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another three weeks.
Love wars was released on the Elektra record label and was the first of four top 10 hits for Womack and Womack in the UK. It was taken from an album of the same name that failed to enter the UK album top 40, peaking at number 45.
