Thirty years ago this week, (When you say you love somebody) in the heart by Kool & the Gang entered the UK top 10 at its highest position of number 7, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 30. After one week in the top 10, the song slipped into the lower top 40 for the final four weeks of its chart life.

(When you say you love somebody) in the heart was released on the De-Lite record label and was the sixth of eight top 10 hits for Kool & the Gang in the UK. It was taken from the silver-selling album In the heart, which peaked at number 18 in the UK album chart.
