Twenty years ago this week, Rubberband girl by Kate Bush entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 12. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 40 for another two weeks.

Rubberband girl was released on the EMI record label and was the twentieth UK top 40 hit for Kate Bush. It was the first track taken from the platinum-selling album The red shoes, which peaked at number 2 in the UK albums chart.
