This week in 1993, Go west by the Pet Shop Boys entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 2. The song stayed at its peak position for two weeks and then started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 10 for another three weeks. A further three weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Go west was released Parlophone record label and was the fourteenth top 10 hit for the Pet Shop Boys in the UK. It was taken from the platinum-selling album Very, which spent one week at the top of the UK albums chart.
The original version of the song was recorded by the Village People in 1979. The single peaked at number 15 in the UK chart.
