This week in 1993, Heart-shaped box by Nirvana entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 5. After one week at its peak position, the song dropped to number 9 for a final week in the top 10. It then spent its last week in the top 40 at number 39.

Heart-shaped box was released on the Geffen record label and was the last of three UK top 10 hits for Nirvana. It was the first track taken from the gold-selling album In utero, which spent one week at the top of the UK albums chart and was also a US number 1.
