Wink Martindale occupied the UK top 10 for nine weeks in 1963 with this track.

Fifty years ago this week, Deck of cards by Wink Martindale reached its highest position of number 5 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 ten weeks previously at number 35 and broke into the top 10 five weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 10 for another three weeks. A further five weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

Deck of cards was released on the London record label and was the only top 10 hit for Wink Martindale in the UK. He did, however, take the same song into the top 40 on two other occasions, reaching number 18 in 1959 and number 22 in 1973. Also in 1973, Max Bygraves recorded a version that peaked at number 13.
