Twenty years ago this week, That’s the way love goes by Janet Jackson entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 2. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 10 for another four weeks. A further three weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
That’s the way love goes was released on the Virgin record label and was the fifth of seventeen top 10 hits for Janet Jackson in the UK. It was the first track taken from the double-platinum-selling album Janet, which spent two weeks at the top of the UK album chart and also topped the US chart. The single was certified silver in the UK and was a US number 1.
