Step It Up – Stereo MC’s

This track by the Stereo MC’s spent nine weeks in the UK top 40 in 1992 and 1993.

Twenty years ago this week, Step it up by the Stereo MC’s reached its highest position of number 12 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 16. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another seven weeks.

Step it up was released on the Fourth & Broadway record label and was the second of five UK top 40 hits for the Stereo MC’s. It was taken from the platinum-selling album Connected, which peaked at number 2 in the UK albums chart.
