This week in 1986, Starting together by Su Pollard reached its highest position of number 2 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 34 and broke into the top 10 a week later. After one week at its peak position, the song spent another two weeks in the top 10, both of them in the top 5, and then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final two weeks of its chart life.
Starting together was released on the Rainbow record label and was the only UK top 10 hit for Su Pollard. It was included on the silver-selling album Su, which reached number 86 in the UK albums chart later in 1986. The single was also certified silver.
