This week in 1995, Violet by Hole entered the UK singles chart at number 17. This was the highest position the song achieved as it dropped out of the top 40 a week later.
Violet was released on the Geffen record label and was the second of four top 40 hits for Hole in the UK. It was taken from the gold-selling album Live through this, which peaked at number 13 in the UK albums chart.
