Sixty years ago this week, Evermore by Ruby Murray reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 20 three weeks previously at number 16 and broke into the top 10 a week later. After two weeks at its peak position, the song fell to number 4 for two weeks and then returned to number 3 for a final week. It then stayed in the top 10 for another six weeks, two of them in the top 5, before slipping into the lower top 20 for the last three weeks of its chart life.
Evermore was released on the Columbia record label. It was the sixth of eight UK top 10 hits for Ruby Murray.
