This week in 1994, Everything is alright (uptight) by CJ Lewis entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 10. After two weeks at its peak position, the song dropped into the lower top 40 for the final three weeks of its chart life.
Everything is alright (uptight) was released on the Black Market record label and was the second of two top 10 hits for CJ Lewis in the UK. It was taken from the silver-selling album Dollars, which failed to enter the UK top 40, peaking at number 44.
The original version of the song was recorded by Stevie Wonder in 1965 as Uptight (everything’s alright). Wonder’s single peaked at number 14 in 1966.
