Forty years ago this week, The bangin’ man by Slade reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 4. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks. A further three weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
The bangin’ man was released on the Polydor record label. It was the eleventh of sixteen UK top 10 hits for Slade.
