This week in 1984, Just be good to me by the S.O.S. Band reached its highest position of number 13 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 26. After one week at its peak position, the song spent another six weeks in the top 40 and then left the chart.
Just be good to me was released on the Tabu record label and was the first of three top 40 hits for the S.O.S. Band in the UK. It was taken from the album On the rise, which did not enter the UK chart.
The song has entered the top 40 on two other occasions. In 1990, Beats International and Lindy Layton took a version to the top of the UK singles chart as Dub be good to me and Just be good to green by Professor Green featuring Lily Allen peaked at number 5 in 2010.
