Thirty years ago this week, Radio ga ga by Queen was at its highest position of number 2 in the UK singles chart for the first of two weeks, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 4. After falling from its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks and then spent the final three weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
Radio ga ga was released on the EMI record label and was the twelfth of twenty-six UK top 10 hits for Queen. It was included on the platinum-selling album The works, which peaked at number 2 in the UK album chart later in 1984.
The song returned to the top 40 in 2004 when Electric Six recorded a version. The cover reached number 21.
