Thirty years ago this week, New moon on Monday by Duran Duran was at its highest position of number 9 in the UK singles chart for the first of two weeks, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 12. After two weeks in the top 10, the song slipped into the lower top 40 for the final two weeks of its chart life.
New moon on Monday was released on the EMI record label and was the seventh of fourteen UK top 10 hits for Duran Duran. It was taken from the platinum-selling album Seven and the ragged tiger, which spent one week at the top of the UK album chart.
