Thirty years ago this week, Move over darling by Tracey Ullman entered the UK top 10 at its highest position of number 8, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 21. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 9 for a final week in the top 10. A further five weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Move over darling was released on the Stiff record label and was the last of three UK top 10 hits for Tracey Ullman. It was taken from the silver-selling album You broke my heart in 17 places, which peaked at number 14 in the UK albums chart.
The original version of the song was recorded by Doris Day in 1963. It was written for a film of the same name and peaked at number 8 in the UK singles chart in 1964.
