Fifty years ago this week, Be my baby by the Ronettes reached its highest position of number 4 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 five weeks previously at number 32 and broke into the top 10 three weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 8 for a final week in the top 10 and then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final four weeks of its chart life.
Be my baby was released on the London record label and was the only top 10 hit for the Ronettes in the UK. It was taken from the album Presenting the fabulous Ronettes, which failed to enter the UK album chart.
