Paul McCartney teamed up with Michael Jackson in 1983 to take this track into the UK top 10 for five weeks.

This week in 1983, Say say say by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson was at its highest position of number 2 in the UK singles chart for the first of two weeks. It had entered the top 40 five weeks previously at number 25 and broke into the top 10 a week later, although it immediately slipped back out of the top 10 for two weeks. After its second week at number 2, the song fell to number 3 for a final week in the top 10 and then spent the last six weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.

Say say say was released on the Parlophone record label and was the tenth UK top 10 hit for Paul McCartney and the fourteenth for Michael Jackson. It was take from McCartney’s platinum-selling album Pipes of peace, which peaked at number 4 in the UK album chart. The single was certified silver in the UK and was a US number 1.
