She loves you by the Beatles replaced Bad to me by Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas at the top of the UK singles chart this week in 1963. It had entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 12 and broke into the top 10 a week later. The song stayed at number 1 for four weeks and then made way for Do you love me? by Brian Poole and the Tremeloes.
After falling from the top spot, the song spent another seven weeks in the top 3 and then returned to number 1, replacing You’ll never walk alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers. It stayed at the top of the chart for another two weeks and was succeeded by I want to hold your hand by the Beatles.
The song stayed in the top 10 for another seven weeks and was still there in January 1964. A further seven weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
She loves you was released on the Parlophone record label and was the second of seventeen UK number 1 hits for the Beatles. The single was also a US number 1.
