This week in 2003, Miss independent by Kelly Clarkson entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 6. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 10 for a final week in the top 10. A further four weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

Miss independent was released on the S record label and was the first top 10 hit for Kelly Clarkson in the UK. It was taken from the album Thankful, which failed to enter the UK albums top 40 but topped the US chart.
