Forty years ago this week, Give me love (give me peace on Earth) by George Harrison was at number 10 in the UK singles chart, having peaked the week before at number 8. It had entered the top 40 five weeks previously at number 38 and broke into the top 10 three weeks later. The song spent a total of four weeks in the top 10 and then slipped into the lower top 40 for the final two weeks of its chart life.
Give me love (give me peace on Earth) was released on the Apple record label and was the third UK top 10 hit for George Harrison. It was taken from the album Living in the material world, which peaked at number 2 in the UK albums chart and was a US number 1. The single also topped the US chart.
