This week in 2003, Year 3000 by Busted entered the UK singles chart at its highest position of number 2. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 for another three weeks. It then spent one week at number 12 before returning to the top 10 for one final week. A further six weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Year 3000 was released on the Universal record label and was the second of eight UK top 10 hits for Busted. It was taken from the band’s eponymous debut album, which peaked at number 2 in the UK albums chart and was certified triple-platinum.
