Stop living the lie by David Sneddon replaced Sound of the underground by Girls Aloud at the top of the UK singles chart ten years ago this week in its first week in the top 40. It stayed at number 1 for two weeks and then made way for All the things she said by t.A.T.u.
After falling from the top spot, the song spent another three weeks in the top 10. A further four weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Stop living the lie was released on the Mercury record label and was the only UK number 1 hit for David Sneddon but the first of two singles to enter the top 10. It was taken from the gold-selling album Seven years – ten weeks, which peaked at number 5 in the UK albums chart later in 2003.
