Fifty years ago this week, Catch the wind by Donovan entered the UK top 10 at number 7, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 22. Two weeks after entering the top 10, the song rose to its highest position of number 4 for one week and then spent three more weeks in the top 10. A further four weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Catch the wind was released on the Pye record label and was the first of seven UK top 10 hits for Donovan. It was included on the album What’s bin did and what’s bin hid, which peaked at number 3 in the UK album chart later in 1965.
