The Shadows occupied the UK top 40 for seven weeks in 1975 with this Eurovision entry.

Forty years ago this week, Let me be the one by the Shadows reached its highest position of number 12 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 32. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another three weeks.
Let me be the one was released on the EMI record label and was the fifty-seventh UK top 40 hit for the Shadows. It was the UK entry in the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest. The song finished in second place, fourteen points behind the winning entry from the Netherlands, Ding-a-dong by Teach-In.
