Forty years ago this week, I can do it by the Rubettes reached its highest position of number 7 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 31 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 9 for a final week in the top 10 and then spent the last two weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
I can do it was released on the State record label and was the third of four UK top 10 hits for the Rubettes. It was included on the album We can do it, which failed to enter the UK album top 40 later in 1975, peaking at number 41.
