Thirty years ago this week, Wide boy by Nik Kershaw reached its highest position of number 9 in the UK singles chart in its fourth week in the top 40 and second in the top 10. After one week at its peak position, the song dropped out of the top 10 and spent the final three weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
Wide boy was released on the MCA record label and was the fourth of five UK top 10 hits for Nik Kershaw. It was taken from the platinum-selling album The riddle, which peaked at number 8 in the UK album chart.
