This week in 1985, Cover me by Bruce Springsteen reached its highest position of number 16 in the UK singles chart, having re-entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 32. It had spent two weeks a number 38 in 1984. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another two weeks.
Cover me was released on the CBS record label and was the third top 40 hit for Bruce Springsteen in the UK. It was taken from the triple-platinum-selling album Born in the USA, which spent five weeks at the top of the UK album chart and was also a US number 1.
