Over and over by Nelly featuring Tim McGraw replaced Get right by Jennifer Lopez at the top of the UK singles chart ten years ago this week in its first week of release. It stayed at number 1 for just one week before yielding the position to Dakota by the Stereophonics.
After falling from the top spot, the song spent another four weeks in the top 10, two of them in the top 5. It then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final four weeks of its chart life.
Over and over was released on the Universal record label and was the third UK number 1 hit for Nelly and the only one for Tim McGraw. It was taken from Nelly’s platinum-selling album Suit, which peaked at number 8 in the UK albums chart and was a US number 1.
