Thirty years ago this week, Sussudio by Phil Collins reached its highest position of number 12 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 36. After two weeks at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another three weeks.
Sussudio was released on the Virgin record label and was the sixth UK top 40 hit for Phil Collins. It was included on the sextuple-platinum-selling album No jacket required, which spent five weeks at the top of the UK albums chart later in 1985 and was a US number 1. The single also topped the US chart.
