Twenty years ago this week, Here comes the hotstepper by Ini Kamoze entered the UK singles chart at number 10. The song stayed in the top 10 for another eight weeks, four of them at its peak position of number 4, and then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final four weeks of its chart life.

Here comes the hotstepper was released on the Columbia record label and was the only top 10 hit for Ini Kamoze in the UK. The single was certified gold in the UK and was a US number 1.
