Forty years ago this week, Pepper box by the Peppers reached its highest position of number 6 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 26 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the tune fell to number 9 for a final week in the top 10. A further four weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Pepper box was released on the Spark record label. It was the only top 10 hit for the Peppers in the UK.
