Sixty years ago this week, Idle gossip by Perry Como reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 12 eight weeks previously at number 6. After one week at its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another five weeks and then fell to number 14 for a final week in the chart, which had been expanded to a top 20.
Idle gossip was released on the HMV record label. It was the third of fourteen top 10 hits for Perry Como in the UK.
