Thirty years ago this week, Stuck on you by Lionel Richie reached its highest position of number 12 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 34. After one week at its peak position, the song spent another seven weeks in the top 40 and then left the chart.
Stuck on you was released on the Motown record label and was the sixth of twenty top 40 hits for Lionel Richie in the UK. It was taken from the triple-platinum-selling album Can’t slow down, which spent three weeks at the top of the UK album chart and was a US number 1.
A second version of the song also entered the UK chart in 1984. Trevor Walters’ cover version peaked at number 9.
