Twenty years ago this week, Swamp thing by the Grid reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 11 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but stayed in the top 10 for another five weeks. A further five weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Swamp thing was released on the Deconstruction record label and was the only UK top 10 hit for the Grid. It was included on the album Evolver, which reached number 14 in the UK album chart later in 1994. The single was certified silver.
