This week in 1974, I see a star by Mouth and MacNeal entered the UK top 10 at its highest position of number 8, having entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 29. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 10 for a final week in the top 10. A further two weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
I see a star was released on the Decca record label and was the only top 10 hit for Mouth & MacNeal in the UK. It was the Dutch entry in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest where it came third behind ABBA’s Waterloo and Gigliola Cinquetti’s Si.
