Thirty years ago this week, Heaven knows I’m miserable now by the Smiths was at its highest position of number 10 in the UK singles chart for the first of two weeks, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 19. After two weeks in the top 10, the song spent the final three weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
Heaven knows I’m miserable now was released on the Rough Trade record label. It was the first of three UK top 10 hits for the Smiths.
